比較とは、2つ以上の人・物をくらべる表現です。中2では3種類を学びます。形容詞・副詞の形が変わるのがポイントです。

たとえば tall（背が高い）なら、as tall as（同じくらい）→ taller（より高い）→ the tallest（最も高い）と変化します。長い語は more / most を前に置きます。
試験では つづりの変化（-er / -est のつけ方）と、good→better→best などの不規則変化が頻出。短い語は -er/-est、長い語は more/most を使い分ける。
比較 は、 形容詞・副詞を使って 2 つ以上のものの程度を比べる表現で、 原級・比較級・最上級 の 3 段階があります。

短い語は語尾に -er / -est、 長い語 (3 音節以上等) は more / most を付けます。 不規則変化 (good-better-best、 bad-worse-worst、 much/many-more-most、 little-less-least) は暗記が必要です。 倍数は 「twice as 〜 as」、 比較級強調は 「much / far + 比較級」 を使います。
試験では 「the 比較級 ..., the 比較級 ...」 (〜 すればするほど ...) や、 比較級を very で強調するミス (正しくは much / far)、 最上級の範囲を示す in (場所・集団) と of (複数名詞) の使い分けが頻出です。
