移行句 (transition phrase) は、 ディスカッション で 話題を切り替える表現。

議論で場を仕切ったり、 自然に次のトピックへ進んだりするのに便利。
たとえば授業の感想を話していた流れで By the way, when is the report due? と切り出せば、話題が変わる合図になります。直前の話とつながる方向へ移るなら、Speaking of which, I read an article about it last night. のように前の語を受けて続けます。
試験では 話題が切り替わる合図としてリスニングで重要。 by the way の後に重要情報が来ることもある。
