be similar to は「A is similar to B」で「AはBに似ている」を表し、前置詞は必ず to を取る点が重要（be similar with は誤り）。形容詞 similar を使うので be 動詞が必要で、動詞 resemble を使えば be 不要（A resembles B）に言い換えられる。反対は be different from。程度は very/quite/somewhat similar のように副詞で調整できる。お互いに似ているなら similar to each other とする。
