hundred の最大の注意点は単複の使い分けで、two hundred のように具体的な数の前では決して複数形にしない（two hundreds は誤り）。一方、漠然と「何百もの」と言うときは hundreds of people のように -s を付ける。100単独で言うときは a hundred または one hundred とし、hundred だけで使うことはまれ。会話では and を挟んで a hundred and five（105）のように読む英国式の言い方もある。
