innumerable は num（数）に否定の in- が付き「数えられない」が文字通りの意味だが、実際には「とても多い」を強調する誇張表現として使う。countless とほぼ同義で、innumerable のほうがやや格式ばった書き言葉。混同しやすい numerous（多数の）は「数えられるが多い」で誇張のニュアンスが弱い。
