「これから先」を広く指す表現で、夢や予想を語るときの定番。前置詞は in を使い、on the future とは言わない。「近い将来」と限定するなら in the near future。なお for the future（将来に備えて）と in the future（将来において）は意味が異なるので注意。反対は in the past（昔・過去に）。
